Machine learning

Machine learning is a field concerned with the prediction of the output. Traditionally computers are deterministic, i.e. they produce the same output every time you run them in the way you programmed them. But in machine learning the computer learns patterns and predicts an output based on that, there's certain limited randomness, everytime you run it it produces something different, so it's non-deterministic. There are several models like markov chains, support vector machines, neural networks, etc. each with their own advantages and disadvantages and characteristics. Pretty hard to understand them tbh.

Saying that LLM models are just "AI" is very ambiguous. There are so many different fields of AI that reducing it to just machine learning is dumb, though it's convenient as it's just two letters.

Some say that LLMs contribute to misinformation because of hallucinations and fake news. But with enough critical thinking you can determine if something is fake, real or not sure, and people and "experts" tell lies all the time so it's no different.

This is a bit off topic but still relevant: Is it ethical to use the big chatbots? The answer is most likely no. { I have no idea how it is in china, deepseek and qwen supposedly are open source in comparison to western LLMs. Most of the time that I use LLMs are those two. }
